Member of Pioneer family; For Many Years with Wholesale Grocers,
A heart attack while playing golf on the fifth green of the Byrnes park course Sunday morning resulted in the death at 10:30 a.m. of Emory J. Miller, 53, 253 Western avenue.
Mr. Miller was stricken about 10 a.m. and was taken by ambulance to Presbyterian hospital. He had been playing golf with C. J. Bassarear, 731 Seventh street west.

Son of Abraham Miller
Miller was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Miller, Orange township pioneers. He was born on a farm Sept. 22, 1878, and received his education in the Waterloo schools.
For 26 years Mr. Miller had been credit manager for Letts-Fletcher Wholesale Grocery company, Marshalltwon, Ia., a position he occupied until three years ago, when he moved to Oklahoma City. In July of this year he came to Waterloo.

Three Children Survive.
Mr. Miller married Isabel Shilliam, sister of Mrs. H. E. Rugg, 722 Campbell avenue, in November, 1909. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mary, senior at Grinnell college, Grinnell, Ia., and Jeanne, student at Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls; one son, Philip, West High school student; his mother, Mrs. Abraham Miller, Orange township; and two sisters, Mrs. Dan Saylor, Orange township, and Mrs. Samuel Hoover, Racine, Minn.
Mr. Miller for many years was a vestryman in St. Paul’s Episcopal church at Marshalltown.
