ED RUTTER, 73, of 203 Corrage Grove avenue, died sometime after 1 a.m. Saturday at his home following a heart attack. He had been ill for the past seven years suffering several such attacks.

Born Jan. 1, 1871, on Sunnyslope farm, on the Raymond-Dewar road in Poyner township, son of William H. and Catherine Grove Rutter, he spent his entire life in this county.

On Dec. 21, 1893, he married Miss Clara Bahl of Gilbertville, Ia., in Waterloo, and for 16 years they lived on a farm in Barclay township moving to Waterloo in 1906. He was employed at the John Deere Tractor Co. until 1937 when he was forced to retire because of ill health.

Surviving are the widow, one son Guy Rutter, 256 Cottage Grove avenue; and two daughters, Mrs. Emmett Niday, 1015 Thorndale avenue, and Mrs. LeRoy Loney Casebeer Heights: two sisters, Mrs. Frank Shannon, 903 Independence avenue and Mrs. Rose J. Turner, Dewar.

There are 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

One son, Eric, died at the age of 8 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 .pm. Monday at Petersen Bros. chapel, with Rev. Charles DuMond, paster of the Church of the Brethren, in charge. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
