WATERLOO,IOWA - Funeral services for Kenneth H. Wilson will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept 21 at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with the Rev. Steve Thom officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls.Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m., Friday and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson, 74, died of cancer Tuesday evening, Sept 17, 1996, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born July 11, 1922, in Cedar Falls, the son of Harry E. and Emma P. (Doescher) Wilson. In his youth, his parents lived in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Saratago, and then settled in the Hazleton area. He graduated from Hazleton High School in 1939. In 1940, he went to work for John Deere & Company, Waterloo.

On May 27, 1942, he married Betty Jeanne Wheeler in Lancaster; Mo., and the couple settled in the Hazleton area. Mr. Wilson entered the U.S. Army March 24, 1943. He earned his Wings in the Army Air Force in 1944 and served during World War II as a flight officer flying B-17 and B-29 bombers. He was discharged in 1945 and came back to Hazleton. He returned to John Deere & Co. in 1946.

From 1947 to 1953, he worked for City Laundry Company in Oelwein. From 1953 to 1956, he was a cordage salesman for John Rauschenberger Company of Milwaukee. Mr. Wilson operated his own business, Wilson Sanitation Service, from 1956 to 1958, when he returned to work for John Deere & Co. In 1959, the couple moved to Cedar Falls.

He retired from John Deere in March 1982, after a total of 29 1/2 years with the company. The couple moved to the Harpers Ferry and McGregor areas and then to their present home in Waterloo in 1992. He was a life-member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. He was a licensed pilot who owned and flew his own plane. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jeanne of Waterloo; one son, William W. (Joyce) Wilson of Corinth, Texas; one daughter, Kathy Jeanne (Adrian) Erickson of Waterloo; four grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and two sisters, Frances M. Wilson and Jean M. Juhl, both of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert W. and Ray K. Wilson.

Memorials may be made in his name to Cedar Valley Hospice, 2101 Kimball A venue, Waterloo, Iowa 50702.
