Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, who died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell.

Rev. Fr. Joe Rogers, pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brooklyn, officiated. Angie Hawkins was the organist. Honorary casketbearers were Curt Manatt, Wally Bower, Steve Heishman, Alan Manatt, Barb Mason, Bob Hunter, Dianne Wilkeson, John Hawkins, and Jack Brothersen. Burial will be at a later date.

Joseph Albert McGarry, son of William Albert McGarry and Betty J. Bennett McGarry, was born December 14, 1953, in Grinnell. He received his education in the BGM Schools. Joe was employed by Manatt's, where he was a heavy equipment oerator. He lived all of his life in the Brooklyn-Grinnell area.

There are four children Joe loved very much and they are Amy and Mark Hansen and Amber and Josh Phipps.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving him are his mother and stepfather, Betty and Gene Osborn of Brookyn; one stepbrother, Mike Osborn of Belle Plaine; nieces and nephews, Robert Flack, John and Kevin Hauersperger, and Crystal and Jonathan Osborn; and great-nephews, Dakota Flack and Gabe Hauersperger.

A memorial fund has been established.
