Assuming that you aren't successful here, you may wish to request a copy of his Application for Social Security card, Form SS-5. I believe that it costs $27 for this, if you supply his social security number. You might get started through your local Social Security office or go to their web site: http://www.ssa.gov/

The information on a Form SS-5 normally would include his date of birth, place of birth, Father's name, Mother's name and more. Good luck!
