Mr. and Mrs George Huyck were
calling on their friends Mr. and M.
Scott Herrick in the country last
Sunday.Mr. and Mrs. Littlefield brought
their friend Mr. Scott Herrick into
town Saturday morning for an ex-
amination by the local physicians.
Mr. Herrick has been in very poor
health for sometime and as his con-
dition seemed to be getting worse
he thought it best to secure med-
ical advice.Audubon County Journal (IA)

URBANNA S. HERRICK--------
In the passing of Urbanna Scott
Herrick this section of the county
loses a familiar figure and a most
progressive farmer; society a careful
painstaking friend to his fellow
man; who always regarded the
feelings of his neighbors and others
in his mingling with them. He was
born near Exira on the twenty ninth
day of November 1858 and died,
near, where he had lived for fifty
five years nine months, and fourteen
days.A short time previous to his demise
which occurred last Thursday
he submitted to an examination at
the Atlantic hospital for an internal
trouble, which was pronounced
cancer of the liver and it then
being of a malignant form little hope
was given for his recovery. A trip
was also made to the great May(o)
Brother's institution at Rochester
Minnesota and after the most car(e)ful
diagnosis the previous examination
was confirmed. He was brought
home as soon as he had strenght
to stand the journey and everything
done that kind hands could do of
which he was appreciative to the
last, but he passed to the great beyond
Thursday last.He was united to marriage to
Miss Clara Blackmore and to them
were born a son and two daughters
His genial and social nature com-
manded the respect of his many
friends who will mourn at his untim-
ly death. The funeral was the largest ever
held in Audubon County. His body was laid to rest in Ex-
ra's city of the dead. Reverend
Hollingshead spoke words of cheer
to the bereaved ones and conducted
the last sad rites.Audubon County Journal (IA)
