Oakfield and Brayton

Layman Baird, one of the twins
babes of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Baird,
departed this life Wednesday evening
February 8, after a short illness. He
was born September 24, 1902 being at
the time of his death two years,
four months and fifteen days old.
Rev. Sloan conducted the funeral
which took place at the home at eleven
o'clock Friday. The little body
was laid to rest in the Oakfield cemetery.
CARD OF THANKS.
We desire to thank our neighbors
and friends who so kindly assisted us
during the sickness and death of our
darling baby.
Harlan Baird
And Family.
I cannot say and will not say,
That he is dead, He's just away.
With a cheering smile, a wave of the hand,
He wandered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming, how very fair
It needs must be. he lingered there.
And you, oh you, who the wildest yearn,
For the old time stop, aud the glad return ;
Think of him still, as the same I say,
He is not dead but passed away.

A FRIEND.

Note: Parents of Layman or Lyman Baird were Harlan Baird and Minnie Jane Stone. Although this article says that he is buried at Oakfield Cemetery, there is a Findagrave stone posted at the Brighton Cemetery for a Lyman Baird, which is the same cemetery that Lyman's parents are buried at. During a review of the Oakfield Cemetery in 2011, I did not find a grave stone for any Bairds there.
