Hold Services for
Harold Pine, 47

ANITA -- Funeral services
for Harold Pine, 47, who died
Nov. 15 at Veterans hospital in
Omaha, were held at the Meth-
odist church here Monday,
with Rev. Carroll Robinson of-
ficiating.

Mrs. Harold Smith, accompa-
nied by Mrs. Eric Olsen, sang
"Going Down the Valley" and
"Beyond the Sunset." Mr. and
Mrs. Claude Chapman, Mrs.
Cecil Scholl and Mrs. Cleo
Burmeister were in charge of
flowers. Casket bearers were
Cleo Burmeister, Harvey Flet-
cher, Claude Smither, William
Parker, Harold Simon and Cecil
Scholl. Burial was in the Ever-
green cemetery, with the Amer-
ican Legion in charge.

Mr. Pine was born on a farm
east of Anita Feb. 13, 1916, and
moved with his parents to a
farm near Exira in 1920. He
grew to manhood in the Exira
vicinity and attended rural
schools. He enlisted in the Ma-
rine corps in January, 1942 and
served for more than 3 1/2 years,
with most of the time overseas.

Following his discharge he
was engaged in farming and in
1947 joined the force at Long's
Furniture store. For the last
four years he was employed at
the Anita Gamble store. He was
a member of the Anita fire de-
partment, Anita American Le-
gion and the Anita Methodist
church.

Mr. Pine was married to La-
Veda Christensen March 18,
1950, and surviving are his wife,
a son, Randall; twin daughters,
Shirley and Sheila; His parents;
four sisters, Mrs. Melva Hirth
and Mrs. Evelyn Miller of Den-
ver, Colo., Mrs. Rose Wilson of
Anita and Mrs. Virginia Harm-
er of Jefferson; two brothers,
Marion Pine of Anita and Rob-
ert Pine of Denver.

Note: Parents of Harold Eugene Pine were Roy Eugene Pine and Bessie E. "Bess" Miller. He was married to LaVeda Marie "Petey" Christensen.
