Death Mrs. Adaline Shissler Fisher

Mrs. Adaline Shissler Fisher. sister of E. B. Shissler of this city died at her home in Audubon, Iowa, December 14 and the Advocate-Republican paper has the following account of her death:

Adaline Shissler, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Izaac Shissler, was born in Ohio April 21, 1852, and departed this life at her home in Audubon, Iowa on December 14, 1936, being past 84 years of age.

She was united in marriage to John Fisher on August 20, 1871, the marriage taking place in Jasper county, Iowa. To this union one son and two daughters were born. Mr. Fisher served his country in the Civil War.

The family moved to Audubon county, Iowa, in the spring of 1882, locating on a farm near Audubon where they lived until the fall of 1910, when they moved to the town of Audubon. Here she and her husband lived until the time of his death on Oct 1, 1933. Since that time she has made her home with her children, except at times when she lived in her own home. It was her wish that she might spend her last days in her own home, which wish was realized.

Mrs. Fisher was one of our most valued citizens. Her character was one of sterling qualities her life one of unselfish service and usefulness. She was blessed with a cheerful disposition and seldom spoke of her own troubles. She won for herself many friends among whom were listed the children for she was very fond of them. Best of all she had an abiding faith in God, and ever sought to live the Christian life.

She was a member of the Audubon Methodist church for 46 years, she and her husband having united here by letter in 1890 under the pastorate of Rev. Tigenfritz. Mrs. Fisher was al¬ways active in the Ladies Aid So¬ciety, Sunday school, Woman's Foreign Missionary society, and a faithful attendant at the various services of the church. She loved her Bible, which was a source of comfort and strength to her even to the last. Mrs. Fisher was also active In community and civic organizations and was an active member of the Woman's Relief Corps as long as that organization was functioning. Hers was a long and useful life.

She leaves her three children, Grant Fisher of Guthrie Center, Ia., Mrs. Chas. Wolff of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Mrs. Mantz of Strawberry Point, Ta., also six grandchildren and ten,great grandchildren, and one brother, E. B. Shissler of Colfax, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday, Dec. 16, the Rev. E. M. Buehler officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Vernon
Jorgensen and Mrs M. 0. Nicholson, with Mrs. Sam Ross at the piano. interment was In Maple Grove cemetery. ~ Colfax Tribune, January 14, 1937.
