Died Following
A Short Illness

Funeral Wednesday

Mrs. Niels C. Jensen died Mon-
day morning at the family home
here following an illness of only
two days. Death was due to heart
failure. She was 75 years, 10
months and 11 days of age.

Anna Christine Jensen, nee
Petersen, was born in Denmark on
July 29, 1861. In the year 1886,
she came to the United States and
settled at Brayton in the latter
part of March. She was married
to Niels Christian Jensen on
December 27, 1886. Following their
marriage they moved to a farm
west of Exira, where they resided
until six years ago when they re-
tired and moved to Exira where
they had since made their home.
Eight children were born to them,
six sons and two daughters. One
son, Arthur, died in 1904.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her
husband and seven children: Mar-
tin, Lawrence, John and Elmer,
all of Exira; Clarence of Kimball-
ton, Mrs. Mary Jacobsen of Sioux
City and Mrs. Daisy Johnson of
Brayton. Twenty-four grandchil-
dren and two great grandchildren
also survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Jensen celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary on
December 27, 1936. When a young
girl she was baptized and con-
firmed in the Lutheran faith and
had since been an adherent.

Funeral services were held Wed-
nesday afternoon at the home and
at the Danish Lutheran church in
Exira with Rev. H. L. Jensen
in charge. Burial was in the Exira
cemetery.
