Retired Exira
Farmer, Dies

Died Following Lingering
Illness; Funeral Serivces
Held Today

John P. Jensen, retired Exira
farmer, died Saturday morning at
the age of 71 years at his home
here following a lingering illness.
He had been a resident of this com-
minity for many years and was a
native of Denmark.

He was born September 21, 1865,
at Tirstrup, Denmark, and was
baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith at Tirstrup church.
He came to Audubon on April 5,
1892 where he made his home with
his brother-in-law, Peter Lund. He
was married to Dorothea Andersen
on January 17, 1893. They resided
on a farm five miles northwest of
Exira until February, 1930, when
they retired and moved to exira.
Mrs. Jensen died two years ago and
since that time he has been in fail-
ing health.

He leaves to mourn his passing
his sister, Mrs. Marie Christensen
of Hamlin and her children, Mrs.
Johanna Nordby, of Exira, and
Niels and Einer Christensen of
Whitewood, South Dakota.

Funeral services were conducted
Tuesday at the home and at the
Exira Lutheran church, with the
Rev. H. L. Jensen in charge. Inter-
ment was made in the Exira
cemetery.

Andrew A. Krogh of Sabin,
Minnesota, was here this week
to attend funeral services for the
late John P. Jensen, which were
held Tuesday.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP

Nels Christensen and Mr. and
Mrs. Einer Christensen of White
Wood, South Dakota arrived here
Sunday to attend the funeral of
their uncle, John P. Jensen, which
was held Tuesday.
