Nels Hanson, well known Exira
man died shortly afternoon Mon-
day at his home following a short
illness of pneumonia and complica-
tions. He was taken ill about a
month ago with an attack of
pneumonia and had recovered from
this illness apparently last week
but on Saturday he suffered a re-
lapse and gradually grew weaker
until the end.

Mr. Hanson was born at Os-
christenstod, Sweden, on February
16, 1870, and came with his par-
ents to the United States when
eight years of age. They first
made their home at Adair, then on
a farm in Audubon township and
in 1892 moved to Exira. With the
exception of a short time spent in
Griswold and in Idaho, he resided
here the rest of his life.

Surviving are two sisters, Miss
Anna Hanson, with whom he made
his home, and Mrs. Frank Nelson
of Griswold.

Funeral services are being held
this afternoon at the home with
the Rev. J. Otis Smith in charge.
Burial will be in Exira cemetery.
