Mrs. Mollie Jenkins Died
Sunday at the Home of
Her Granddaughter--------
Mrs. Mollie Leone Jenkins, well
known Atlantic woman and a resi-
dent of near Brayton for many
years, died Sunday morning at the
home of her granddaughter, Miss
Josephine Scott, in Atlantic. She
had been suffering from complica-
tions for some time. Her age was
74 years, nine months and six days.Mrs. Jenkins as born in Madison,
Wisconsin, on October 3, 1858, being
a daughter of the late Patrick and
Mary Devine. When 19 years of age,
she came to Iowa and was married
the same year to Isaac H. Jenkins
on November 5, 1876.Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins resided on
a farm south of Brayton until 1900
when they retired from farming and
moved to Atlantic. Mr. Jenkins died
at Atlantic in 1905 and since that
time Mrs. Jenkins had been living
with Miss Scott.Surviving besides the granddaugh-
ter are a daughter and an adopted
son, Mrs. Irene Burton of Sioux
City and Frank H. Devine of Texas.Short funeral services were held
at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at
the Osborne-Tomlinson funeral
home. The main services were at
3:30 in the afternoon at the Brayton
First Baptist church, with the Rev.
J. E. Bruner in charge. Interment
was in the Atlantic cemetery.Note: The obituary says she was buried at the Atlantic cemetery, however there is a gravestone for Mollie and her husband and his first wife at the Oakfield Cemetery, Audubon co., IA.
