Isaac Shirey Died
Friday At Home Here

Isaac Shirey, a resident of Audubon
county the past sixty years, died at
his home here on Friday, November
11, following an illness of several
months' duration. Funeral services
were held at the Federated church on
Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with
Rev. Virgil B. Hill in charge. Burial
was in Oakfield cemetery.

The decedent was born in Wayne
county, Indiana, on January 22, 1840.
At the age of fourteen years he
moved with his parents to Marion
county, Iowa, and was married to
Schrilda Offterdinger in January,
1864. In 1877 they moved to Audu-
bon county and resided on a farm
south of town many years. In 1913
the wife died and in 1919 Mr. Shirey
moved to Exira to make his home, his
son, Isaac, Jr., having lived with him
during this time.

Mr. Shirey was the father of 11
children, six of whom have preceded
him in death. Those who survive are
Mrs. Lenora Rogers, west of Exira;
B. F. Shirey of Sioux City; J. F.
Shirey of Palmer, Nebraska; Mrs.
Malinda LeFleur of Guthrie Center,
and Isaac Jr., of Exira. He also leaves
to mourn his passing one brother,
John, of Knoxville, one sister, Su-
sanna of Truax, Canada, 37 grand-
children and 31 great grandchildren.

Mr. Shirey was a member of the
Methodist church. He was a good
father and neighbor and had a wide
circle of friends who mourn his loss.
