E. A. Jones Died
At Home Near Oakfield

E. A. Jones, long time resident of
this county, died this morning at his
home near Oakfield. Mrs. Jones
died only last week. Funeral ser-
vices had not been arranged yet
this morning.

E. A. Jones Died Last Week
Just Six Days after
Death of Wife

Funeral services were conducted
at 2:30 Sunday afternoon for E. A.
Jones at the Brayton Baptist church
by the Rev. A. G. Whittier, pastor
of the Exira Church of Christ.
Burial was in the Oakfield ceme-
tery.

Mr. Jones died at his home north
of Oakfield last Thursday just six
days after the death of his wife.
Death was due to pneumonia fol-
lowing a heart attack.

Erwin Alfred Jones was born on
a farm three miles northeast of
Oakfield, Audubon county, Iowa,
on September 15th, 1862.

He was united in marriage to
Miss Mary Catherine Oakes on
May 23rd, 1883. To this union were
born eight children, seven of whom
are still living, one daughter hav-
ing preceeded the father in death
in 1909. The wife passed away on
March 20th of this year, having
died just six day before and her
funeral services were held in the
same church exactly six days pre-
vious to the services for the hus-
band.

Mr. Jones was a member of two
lodges the Odd Fellows, and the
Modern Woodmen of America. He
also served as a volunteer with the
Chaffie Sight Artillery of Denver,
Colorado during the Indian cam-
paign of 1883.

Surviving the deceased are six
sons: O. R. Jones of Hawarden, G.
N. Jones of Brayton, C. L. Jones
and E. A. Jones of Bruce, S. D.,
J. A. Jones and E. E. Jones of
Brayton, one daughter Mrs. Roy
Young of Brayton, three sisters:
Mrs. Emma E. Stoneking of Denver,
Colorado, Mrs. Julia M. Bills of
Grant and Mrs. Helen A. Boggs of
Elliott, a large number of grand-
children and two great-grandchil-
dren.
