HAMLIN YOUNG MAN
DIES IN HOSPITAL---------
Harvey Christensen Dies Two
Days After Auto Crash.
Funeral Yesterday---------
The death of Harvey Christensen
occurred Monday afternoon at the At-
lantic hospital following an automo-
bile accident which happened Satur-
day night north of Hamlin.Christensen was enroute to Audu-
bon Saturday evening when he sud-
denly saw a car coming onto the main
highway from a by-road. He turned
out and applied his brakes but the
fenders on the cars struck causing
Christensen's car to turn over several
times. Following the accident he was
able to crawl from the wreckage al-
though badly injured. He was taken
to the Atlantic hospital where an op-
eration was performed with hopes of
saving his life, but all that could be
done was of no avail and he passed
away Monday afternoon.Harvey Christensen was the son of
Mrs. Niels Christensen, who resides
about three miles southwest of Ham-
lin. He was born March 15, 1898, and
had spent his entire life on the home
farm. His father died in 1909 leaving
the mother in charge of seven chil-
dren, of which the older were able to
carry on the farm work. However,
God, who is the loving protector of
the widow and fatherless, has won-
derfully provided for them until this
day. About a year ago one of the
brothers, Sophus, passed way rather
suddenly, leaving a wife and child.Surviving him are his mother and
four brothers, Jens and Marius at
home; Emil, farming in Sharon town-
ship; Lawrence, garage man in Ham-
lin, and one sister, Alice, who is at
home. That this second and more
sudden bereavement of one of their
flock is a very severe shock and occa-
sions deep grief and pain, is readily
understood, and our heartfelt sym-
pathy is extended to them, with the
comfort of the living word of God:
"Cast all your anxiety upon me, I
careth for you." (I Pet. 5,8)The deceased was baptized and a
member of the Lutheran church and
was confirmed in the same faith in
Christ. The family belong to the
Hamlin church, from which the fun-
eral was held yesterday afternoon,
at two o'clock, Rev. P. C. Jensen in
charge.Harvey was a good and lively young
man, consequently he had numerous
friends. His dear old mother, broth-
ers and sister will miss him in their
family circle; we will all miss him in
our community and church. May his
best friend be Jesus Christ! He is
the only one who can go with us
through the strange portals of death
and give us everlasting life.
