Pioneer of Exira Died on Saturday, February 11, 1933

Mrs. Ernestine Klever
Resided in that Community since 1885

Mrs. Ernestine Klever, 78 year old widow of the late Charles Fred Klever, well known and long time Exira resident, died Saturday, February 11, 1933 at 4 pm at her home following a brief illness with double pneumonia. She had been ill since Tuesday of last week.

Mrs. Klever, whose maiden name was Bartelt, was born at Pommern, Germany, January 3, 1855 and came to Iowa County, Iowa with her parents in 1872.

Married at Marengo

Her marriage to Charles Fred Klever took place at Marengo, Iowa on April 15, 1875. Ten years later they located on a farm 3 miles northeast of Exira and remained there until 1915, when they retired and moved to Exira.

Mr. Klever died four years ago and a son Charles F. Jr., died several years ago. Mrs. Klever was a member of the Exira Federated Eastern Star church and of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Louis F. and Fred “Fritz” W, Exira. Two brothers: Fred Bartelt, Exira and J. L. Bartelt Perry; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services Monday.

Funeral services were Monday at 2pm at the Federated Church, the Rev. Virgil B. Hill officiating. Burial in the Exira Cemetery.
