Carl Klever Dies at Home in Exira

Pneumonia Following Flu Fatal to Aged Resident of County(By Advocate Republican Staff Correspondent)
Carl Fred Klever, well known Exira man, died at his home there Sunday. He had been ill for about two months, flu, which he contracted during the holiday season, having led to pneumonia. He was 79 years old.
Mr. Klever was a native of Germany, having been born in Holstein on April 17, 1849. He came to this country when a young man, arriving in September 1868 and locating at Marengo, this state. He was married there to Miss Ernestine Bartelt on April 15, 1875 and came to this county shortly afterward, settling on a farm three miles east of Exira.
The Survivors
He is survived by his widow and two sons, Louis F. who resides on the home farm near Exira and Fred, at home. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Christina Miller of Marengo and two grandchildren, Lloyd Klever and Mrs. LeRoi Henry, both of Exira.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30pm from the home, the Rev. V. B. Hill of the Exira Federated church officiating. Burial was made in the Exira cemetery.
