FORMER EXIRA LADY
DIES IN CALIFORNIAMrs. Nels Hemmingsen died at the
home of her son, Uffe Hemmingsen,
near Fresno, California, Oct. 13, 1925,
and was laid to rest out there. She
had been well and around till about
a week before she died.Maren Kirstine Hemmingsen was
born in Store Ejlstrup, Ryn, Den-
mark in 1843, was past 82 years at
time of her demise. She and her
husband, Nels Hemmingsen, who pre-
ceded her in death about 15 years,
farmed in Denmark till the year 1892,
when they with three of their children
immigrated to this country and took
up the same occupation here, first
renting farms and later buying and
owning the farm now owned by P. M.
Jessen, northwest of Exira. Mrs.
Hemmingsen lived all of her time
in this country in Audubon county
with the exception of last two years
when she lived with her son, Uffe, at
Fresno, he having previously moved
there on account of his health.To Mr. and Mrs. Nels Hemmingsen
were born ten children of which six
died in Denmark, one girl still lives
there, three followed them to this
country, one of which ,Frode H., died
near Brayton 1893. The remaining
are Uffe H. of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs.
John C. Thomsen of near Exira.Note: The California death record of Uffe Henningsen (1879-1947), lists his mother's maiden name as Jensen.
