AUDUBON FARMER
TAKES OWN LIFE----------
Roy Colbert Found Hanging
in Corncrib by Coon
Rapids Cattlemen----------
Roy Colbert about 40 years of age,
was found hanging in the corn crib
on the home farm in Viola township,
shortly after noon last Sunday, where
he lived with his mother, brother and
a sister. Pingrey & Gillispe, stock
buyers of Coon Rapids found the life-
less body when they came to the Col-
bert farm to look at some cattle. His
relatives were immediately notified
and the coroner, Chas. Higgens, sum-
moned. No inquest was necessary
as it was a plain case of suicide. Mr.
Colbert was fairly well-to-do, owning
the 80 acre farm adjoining that of
his mother's.In his pocket was found a letter
stating that he was tired of life, hav-
ing nothing to live for and as this
was Sunday and a fine day, this will
end all my troubles, and I will be
happy, as will everybody else. He
also named a friend as administra-
tor of his estate and left word that
his mother pay any outstanding debts
of his and not to bother collecting
any debts due him, but just to forget
them.
