FORMER EXIRA BOY
ACCIDENTLY KILLED

--------
Son of Former Exira People
Run Down by Automobile
at Hawarden Sunday

--------

Word was received here Sunday
evening from Hawarden that Gerald,
youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Ross, former residents of this place,
had been instantly killed when run
down by an automobile. The deceased
lad was about nine years of age.

It is reported that the Ross family
were attending the opening of a new
swimming pool at Hawarden, where
they now reside. Traffic was extra
heavy and when the lad attempted to
cross a road through a string of cars,
he was hit by a machine and instantly
killed. The driver of the car was
Lante Johnson of Hudson, S. D., and
no blame whatever is placed on him.

Mrs. J. H. Bishop, who is an inti-
mate friend of the Ross family and to
whom the sad news was sent, depart-
ed Monday morning for Hawarden.

The bereaved family have a great
many friends in this vicinity who will
regret very much to learn of their
misfortune and who extend heartfelt
sympathy.
