OBITUARY
Ronald B. (Jim) Basham, the son of Frank H. and Clarissa Cannon Basham, was born in Audubon County near Exira, Iowa and died at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 1 day.
He attended Exira schools and graduated from Exira High School with the Class of 1928. He was baptized in the Exira Christian Church on April 27, 1924. He worked in several states after graduation.
In March 10 1936 he was married to Ruth Mattie Wulf in Audubon County, Iowa. They lived in Exira where he was in the trucking and feed business. He interrupted this business to work on the Alcan Highway and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1958 he moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he drove Yellow Cab until he retired in 1976. He spent several years of his retirement training race horses in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and two sisters in infancy; two brothers: Fred and Joel Basham; four sisters: Alice Van Aernam; Gertrude Foster; Mary Adams and Irma Dudley.
Survivors include his two daughters and their spouses: Ruth and Guy Barton of Brayton, IA; Trudi and Robert Crosby of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren: Brenda Barton-Pirtle of Riverrside, IA; Paul Barton of San Diego, CA; Amy Hindman of Frederick, MD; David Ahlquist of Omaha, NE; three step-grandchildren: Sheryl Norman of Des Moines, IA; Carol Crosby of Lincoln, NE; Brad Crosby of Omaha, NE; one great-granddaughter: Kaitlyn Pirtle of Riverside, IA; two step great-grandsons: Randy and Ryan Norman of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Claudine Wahlert of Exira, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Mr. Basham appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and concern. Everyone is invited to meet with them in the church basement following the committal service.
