Military Rites
At Oakfield Today
For Chas. Heath, 62

Memorial services for Charles
Heath, 62, of Council Bluffs, who
died Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the
Veterans' Administration hospital
in Omaha, will be held in the
hospital chapel at 10 a.m. Thurs-
day, with burial rites at 2:30 p.m.,
at the Oakfield cemetery, near
Brayton.

The Rev. S. R. Wall, pastor of
the Exira Christian church will
officiate and military rites at the
grave will be in charge of the
Omaha American Legion. Mr.
Heath was a patient at the hos-
pital for the last three weeks and
had been in failing health for
several years.

A son of Mrs. Grace Heath of
Exira and the late Elmer Heath,
he was born in Oakfield town-
ship, August 26, 1894 and grew
to manhood in the Brayton-Exira
communities.

He left Exira at the age of 22,
moving to Council Bluffs and for
many years was employed with
the Brandeis store at Omaha. He
was veteran of World War 1 and
served in active combat duty over-
seas. He was a member of the
American Legion.

Surviving besides his aged
mother in Exira, is his widow,
Edna of Council Bluffs; a son,
Charles, jr., of Sacramento, Cal.;
three grandchildren; four broth-
ers, Bryan of Sioux City, Ken-
neth of Sacramento, Calif.; Earl
of Atlantic and Ivan of Exira;
two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Atwater
of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs.
Frances Anderson of Avoca.

1. Charles Amherst Heath, born August 26, 1894 in Oakfield Township, Audubon County, Iowa; died November 27, 1956 in Veterans Administration hospital, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. He was the son of 2. Elmer Owen Heath and 3. Grace Greenwood Hawk. He married (1) Alice Josephine Smith. She was born April 02, 1899 in Brayton, Audubon, IA, and died November 14, 1934 in Omaha, Douglas, NE. She was the daughter of Michael Smith and Geneva Belle Mendenhall. He married (2) Edna Thompson.

2. Elmer Owen Heath, born October 28, 1864 in Oakfield, Audubon County, IA; died August 26, 1952 in Atlantic (Cass), IA. He was the son of Amherst Calvin Heath and Lola Ann Lacey. He married 3. Grace Greenwood Hawk October 28, 1885 in Exira (Audubon), IA.
3. Grace Greenwood Hawk, born February 01, 1867 in (Sandusky), OH; died December 02, 1959 in Atlantic (Cass), IA. She was the daughter of Charles Conrad Hawk and Hannah Maria Hamlin.
