Rites Yesterday
For Mrs. K. Ludwig

Last rites for Mrs. Katherine
A. Ludwig, 91, a resident of Au-
dubon township for over 80 years,
were held yesterday, (Wednes-
day) at the Exira Christian church
at 2 p.m. with the Rev. D. E.
Weiss, pastor of St. John's Luth-
eran church, east of Exira offici-
ating.

Mrs. Ludwig died at the Audu-
bon County Memorial Hospital at
11 p.m. Saturday, following a
brief illness.

Born September 14, 1892, at
Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, Kath-
erine Alice Echternacht, was one
of a family of the seven children
of Jacob and Lavina Echternacht.
She came with her family to Au-
dubon county at the age of ten
years

On September 14, 1892, she was
united in marriage to Wilhelm
Ludwig, who preceded her in
death in 1913.

Eight children were born to this
union: Jacob and Emma, who liv-
ed with their mother in the home
where she spent her entire life
since her marriage; Mrs. Lloyd
Perfect, (Clara) of Omaha, Nebr.;
Mrs. Henry Prugh, (Bertha) of
Gladen, Mo.; Mrs. Ora Cerka,
(Ida) of Gray; Mrs. Otto Akers,
(Mary) of Brayton and William,
of Exira. One son, Henry, died in
1939.

Besides her husband and son,
those preceding in death include
five sisters and grandson.

Other survivors besides the
sons and daughters are 19 grand-
children and 21 great grandchil-
ren and a brother, Charles
Echternacht of Auburn, Penn.

Interment was in the Exira
cemetery.

1. Katherine Alice "Kate" Echternacht, born January 16, 1866 in Pine Grove, Schuykill County, Pennsylvania; died March 23, 1957 in Audubon County Memorial Hospital, Audubon County, Iowa. She was the daughter of 2. Jacob Echternacht and 3. Lavina ???. She married William or Wilhelm Godfrey Ludwig September 14, 1892 in Iowa. He was born February 29, 1856 in Saxony, Germany, and died October 02, 1913 in Exira, Audubon County, Iowa. He was the son of Godfrey Ludwig.
