Martin rites
held here
on Monday

Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Monday afternoon for Bruce
Martin, lifelong resident of Audu-
bon county. He died Friday even-
ing at his home, at almost 88 years
of age.

Rev. W. W. Russell was in
charge of the services which were
held in the Federated church.
Burial was in the Exira cemetery.
Pallbearers were neighbors, Basil
Martin, Kermit Martin, Ai Davis,
Virgil Williams, Bill Ludwig and
Burnice Jones.

Mr. and Mrs. St. John sang
"What a friend we Have in Jesus'
and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere"
accompanied at the organ by
Alice Jean Powers

Bruce Martin was born on an
Audubon county farm November
27, 1870. On October 19, 1898 he
was married to Ida May Kilworth.
He is survived by his wife and
four children which were born of
this union, a daughter, Mrs. Esth-
er Marks of Fort Collins, Colo-
rado; and three sons, Keith, Low-
ell and Karl.

There are five grandchildren and
10 great grandchildren now liv-
ing. One great granddaughter died
a year ago. Mr. Martin had three
brothers but only one, Rodney
Martin of Spokane, Wash. sur-
vive him. John Martin of Exira
and George Martin of Cheyenne,
Wyoming, preceded him in death.

Three living sisters are Mrs.
Winifred Ridgley, Mrs. Blanche
Davis and Mrs. Hans Larsen, all
of Exira. A fourth sister died
infancy.

1. Charles Bruce Martin, born November 27, 1870 in Audubon County, Iowa on a farm; died April 25, 1958 in Exira, Audubon County, Iowa at his home. He was the son of 2. James Henry Martin and 3. Elizabeth Jane "Bettie" Goforth. He married Ida May Kilworth October 19, 1898. She was born January 13, 1879 on a farm, Audubon Co., Iowa [4 mi. SE of Exira], and died March 24, 1983 in Audubon County Memorial Hospital, IA. She was the daughter of Thomas Hollis Kilworth and Mary Anne Healey.

2. James Henry Martin, born April 22, 1837 in Augusta County, Virginia; died September 30, 1925 in Exira, Audubon County, Iowa at home. He was the son of 4. Woodson Martin and 5. Sarah "Sally" Cusin or Kriser. He married 3. Elizabeth Jane "Bettie" Goforth January 19, 1865 in Western, Linn County, Iowa, L. S. Grove, Minister.
3. Elizabeth Jane "Bettie" Goforth, born September 13, 1847 in Nicholasville, Jessamine County, Kentucky; died March 23, 1926 in Exira, Audubon County, Iowa. She was the daughter of 6. Zephaniah Goforth and 7. Nancy Jane Carrol.
