PASSES AWAY AFTER
SHORT ILLNESS--------
Samuel Elliott Hockenberry was
born in Pennsylvania, November
26, 1846, and passed away Febru-
ary 24, 1920. He moved to Peoria,
Illinois with his parents when a
small boy where he grew to man
hood. He was married to Sarah
Ann Knott on March 2, 1875. They
came to Iowa in 1883. To this
union eight children were born, two
of whom died in infancy. The wife
and mother departed this life, May
11, 1917.He leaves to mourn his loss three
brothers and six children. The
brothers are Scott Hockenberry of
Mills, New Mexico; George, of
Helena, Oklahoma; Grant of Hen-
derson, Iowa. The children are:
Charles of Anita; Walter and Ida
of Oakland; Harry, Scott and
Mrs. Nettie Jensen of Exira, besides
ten grand-children.He united with the M. E. church
when a young man and has been a
faithful follower of the Master to
the time of his death.Funeral services were held at the
Federated church yesterday after-
noon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Lawton
in charge. Interment made at Oak-
