PILOT BEAM OF ENGINE HIT
YOUNG MAN AT AUDUBON

--------

As the Rock Island branch was pull-
ing into the station at Audubon on
Friday morning the pilot beam of the
engine struck Lewis Roberts, Audu-
bon truck driver, knocking him down
between the platform and the track.
Fortunately, Roberts did not fall un-
der the wheels of the moving train and
escaped with but slight injuries about
the head. Standing too close to the
edge of the station platform was the
cause of the accident which will serve
as a reminder to him to "not meddle
with the cars."
