Ancestors

I am looking for information on the ancestors of John Gardner who was living in or around Centerville, Appanoose County in 1870 (and earlier). The family legend holds that John's parents died on a wagon train heading west and John was taken in by another family. He married Frances Marion Creamer in Appanoose County on March 31, 1858. Frances died in March of 1870 and one of their children, Robert, went to live with the Thompson Rowland family. Thank you.
