I've been using my ancestry records to work on this family. john and mary a Wilmington are on the 1856 iowa state census in Caldwell township . appanoosa county. john is aged 43 ..his birthplace is written over but appears to be ohio. he had been in iowa for 11 years...which suggests he was in iowa for the 1850 census - more on that later . in 1856 mary A.is aged 43 born in Kentucky. but look at these 2 enties: next is Mathias Wilmington aged 17 born indiana; both mary a and mathias had also been in iowa for 11 years...perhaps all coming together? but look at this last entry in the Wilmington family in 1856- mathias (his surname looks like VEELER he is aged87 born Virginia. john and mary a are on the 1850 census forLiberty township, Jefferson co., iowa; john and mary aged 37 with a mathias reed (clearly written)aged 11 born iowa. if you wuill email me, I'll review some other discoveries I've made
