I couldn’t find anything directly so here are some ideas for you to pursue:

1. I would get a copy of his father Henry’s obituary to see if it listed his family members. You can do that by writing here:

http://putnamcl.lib.mo.us/content/genealogy

That may or may not help since someone posted at least part of his obituary on his findagrave entry here:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Guffey&GSiman=1&GScid=2345693&GRid=49663301&

If that’s all there is that won’t be of any help.

2. Henry may have a probate record that listed beneficiaries. Those have been put into a book that’s available at the following libraries. Visit one of them if one is close to you:

http://www.worldcat.org/title/putnam-county-missouri-estate-records-estate-records-from-putnam-county-missouri-1845-1909/oclc/20526516

3. Write to the Crawford County library and see if they can locate an obituary for Richard:

http://www2.youseemore.com/crawfordcls/directory.asp?sID=

4. Here’s a Crawford County genealogy site with an email address. Email them and see if they have any other ideas for you:

http://crawfordcoargenealogical.blogspot.com/

5. Are you familiar with the book “William Guffey (1786) ancestors and descendants, and some related families” which can be found in these libraries:

https://www.worldcat.org/title/william-guffey-1786-ancestors-and-descendants-and-some-related-families/oclc/45196456&referer=brief_resultst

The author is now deceased but he posted this on a message board some years ago.

The book may have sufficient documentation to satisfy you.
