Thanks for responding! Regarding the Margaret Jane Wallace I am seeking information on, her parents are Andrew McHenry Wallace and Mary Anna (nickname Polly) Jones. The whole family appears in the 1850 census (as the McWallaces) living in Wells.
In 1856 Iowa Census they were still living in Wells (listed as the Wallis family), however, Andrew was not listed and no one knows what happened to him. Then I found the Margaret Jane Wallace that went on trial for murder the same year so I am trying to see if there is a connection between the two and if it's our Margaret or someone else. Our Margaret was in her late 20's and still living at home, unmarried. The whole situation just seemed odd.
In the 1860 census, Still no Andrew, so I am presuming he died before the 1856 census and Margaret also was not listed on that census record as well which made me wonder if she finally married or headed to jail, was hung etc...
After that, aside from my 3x great grandfather (Robert) and another brother (John) who moved back to Missouri, we seem to have lost the trail on what happened to their mother Mary and the other siblings.
I will have to see about ordering that microfilm.
Thanks again!
