I found a William Orr (age 50, born VA) with wife Mary (age 47 born NC) in the 1870 Hamilton County, IN census and there is a John living with them, but he's 26 (so born 1844) and born in IN.

Is that the family you found him in?

There's also a John Wright living in that county (age 15 born IN) living with Nelson and Elizabeth Merritt. That's a closer age.

BTW John Wiley Wright and family are in the 1856 Iowa special census for Appanoose County, but no John. They're missing from the 1860 census and found there in the 1870 census.
