Mystic around 1916

I have a school paper that my grandmother wrote when she was 16 (around 1916). Her "Autobiography" led me to a few questions:
1. Everyone in her family were coal miners - and she attended East Ward School. She said that her part of town had a reputation for "meanness." Was this part of town considered a "mining camp"? Was this company housing? After scrolling through the census it looks as though nearly the entire population of Mystic worked in the mines, so it would seem that the whole of Mystic was a mining camp of sorts. What would give her side of town more of a reputation for having mean streets?

2. I have a picture of Mystic High School, which she attended. And pictures of only the side of the building of the East End School where she was a student and later a teacher. But no picture of East End School that is recognizable. Nor of the Central Ward School that she attended between East End and High School. Does anyone have pictures of these schools to share?

3. She says, "Then came the fight for the new school house and a half term of school in the N(?). B Church." I believe she is referring to Mystic High School when she speaks of the new school. What was the fight? I couldn't make out the initials for the church.

4. Was there a movie theater in Mystic in the 1910s?
