I found Jordan Stephens (sp) living in Wells Twp, Appanoose County in the 1870 census, age 48, living with Salina, age 43, and three children: George 15, Margaret, 13, and Emery, 11. All were born in Ohio.

Then if you go to this site and put in Amos Stevens as the name, United States as the country and North Carolina as the state, there are a bunch of listings for Amos Stevens. However, there seem to be two of them so you'll have to sort through which one is yours.
