Raymond Fenton

Raymond Fenton, 81, of Boone, died in Boone County Hospital Tuesday, December 27. He had been a resident at the Madrid home for the aging in Madrid for about a year.

Mr. Fenton was born in Plano May 27, 1902 the son of Charles A. and Alice Cole Fenton. He was married first to Beth Lambert. On June 1, 1946 he married Cecile Pratt in Des Moines.

He had been a teacher for more than 40 years and had been a teacher and superintendent of schools in Moravia for 16 years before retiring. He was a member of the Chariton River Baptist church.
During that time he lived in this area, he served as chairman of the zoning commission for Rathban Lake area, on the lay advisory board of St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, and served on the board of SIEDA in Ottumwa.

Survivors include his wife, CÚcile, of Boone; one son, Judge Ray Fenton of Des Moines; one daughter, Elizabeth Isaacson of Des Moines; five grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-grandsons and two sisters, Vera James of Ottumwa and Flossie Anderson of Storm Lake.

Services will be Friday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stark-Welin funeral home in Boone. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
