Arvena Standley, daughter of Jeptha and Margaret Standley, was born December 25, 1864 at Milledgeville, Iowa and passed away November 13, 1948 at her home in Courtland at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 13 days.
At the age of 21 she became united with her Lord to follow Him and His teachings through life.
She was united in marriage December 24, 1889 at Corydon, Iowa to John Bower. To this union three children were born, Dempsey and Arden, and Harry who passed away in infancy.
Surviving are her husband, two sons, one grandson, Donald Bower, U.S. Navy, one sister, Mrs. Addie Haney, Kansas City, Missouri, one brother, Aleck Standley, Orange, California, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held November 15 from the Christian church in Courtland and internment was in Courtland cemetery.
