Strandberg is Stricken at Centerille

Hubert Strandberg, 57, former City Council member, was found dead in the carport of his home at 823 South Park Avenue, Thursday at 11:38 a.m. Police were called by Earl Cramblit, who saw Strandberg.
Dr. E. A. Larsen, Appanoose County medical examiner, said death was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Strandberg had been in failing health for many years.
Mr. Strandberg was a former restaurant owner, insurance man and farm operator. He was a past master of Jackson Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Drake Avenue Christian Church and Shrine.
Born in Centerville, November 2, 1906, he was the son of Nels Peter and Ella Strandberg. He married Flossie Fenton June 14, 1933 in the Chariton River Baptist church at Brushy near Centerville.
Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Zanna Lee Calman of San Gabriel, California, Mrs. Janan Spurgeon of Centerville and Linda Strandberg of Ames, five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Marie Brown of Osceola. He was preceded in death by one brother.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3;00 pm. at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Howard Strong officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The body is at Johnson Funeral Home.

Strandberg Rites September 5

Julius Hubert Strandberg of 823 South Park Avenue, died suddenly of a heart attack about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, September 3.
He was born November 2, 1906. He was the son of Nils Peter and Ella Larson Strandberg and lived at 1007 South 18rh until the time of his marriage to Flossie Fenton, June 14, 1933, ar Chariton River Baptist Church. To this union were born three daughters, Zanna Lee Calman of San Gabriel, California, Janan Spurgeon, 502 West Maple, Centerville and Linda Kay of 2209 Welch, Ames, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife, five grandchildren, Paul and for sadists kehlmann,Stephen and Greg Spurgeon, and one sister, Mrs. Marie Brown of Oceola, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin
He was a member of the Drake Ave., Christian Church and served as an elder for a number of years, chairman of the Board, and other capacities of the church. He was a member of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners.
He served on the Centerville city council and was active in civic affairs.
He was a business man for 30 years and a member of the Association of commerce, operating BS. S. Café and Hub’s snack bar, and serving as an agent for MF a and insurance company.
He was a devoted husband and father. His sudden death came as a shock to his relatives and host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church in Centerville, Saturday, September 5, 1964 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Howard Strong, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland cemetery.
