STINA OLSON

Mrs. Stina Olson has passed away

Well known Swedish resident dies very suddenly at her home in this city.

Another of the oldest residents of Centerville passed away last night when Mrs. Stina Olson was called to her reward. Mrs. Olson, who has always made her home in this city with her son, Carl, was in the best of health on Wednesday and remained up last evening until about 9:30 reading her Bible. At that time she retired but called her son about 10:00 o'clock, stating that her chest was hurting her. Liniment was applied and after she had told them she felt much better, the remainder of the family retired. A lamp had been left burning in her room after she stated she was not feeling well, so her son arose at 4:00 o'clock to turn this light out. Upon entering the room he called to his mother and receiving no answer discovered that she lay lifeless.

Mrs. Olson was eighty-six years of age on the 18th of last December and had come to this country with her family about twenty-five years ago. Her husband had passed away in Sweden and it was with her son, Carl, that she resided since her arrival here. Her life had been an example of uprightness - in the neighborhood where she resided and her duty to her family an church seemed to be the big aims of her life. Her friends in the city are many and the devotion she showed for those for whom she cared was only surpassed by her example of good life and acts of goodness.

Mrs. Olson was the mother of ten children, eight of whom are living. Carl, with whom she made her home; Gustin and John; both in Sweden; Andrew, of Utah; Axel, of this City; Mrs. Tillie Johnson, of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. John Olson and Mrs. Anna Carlson, both of this city. Leonard, another son, passed away about five years ago in this city and a daughter was lost in infancy.

Funeral services will be held from the residence on South Main street at 1:00 o'clock Friday afternoon. Reverend Carlson, of the Swedish Congregational Church, will have charge of the service, Mrs. Olson being a member of his congregation.
