Marguerite Hatfield
Marguerite Hatfield. 83, of Centerville, died Tuesday. April 13, 1993, at the Golden Age Manor. She was born July 15. 1909 in rural Appanoose County, the daughter of James and Betty (Bryant) Mitchell. She was united in marriage to William Newton Hatfield on March 1930 in Belvidere. Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1958. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a brother. Robert; and three great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Jean Barton, of Corning, and Betty Marie McGrann, of Mystic; two sons, Robert Omar Hatfield and James Franklin Hatfield, both of Mystic; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a daughter- law. Marguerite was a home maker and house wife. Funeral services will be held Thursday. April 15, 1993, at 1 p.m. at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. Burial will be in the Hanes Cemetery, north of Centerville. Visitation will be held this evening, April 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. (Page 2, Ad-Express/Iowegian, Wednesday, April 14, 1993)
Additional information: Marguerite's father was James Mitchell, born about 1876 in Lanarkshire in Scotland. James was the son of Alexander B. Mitchell, born 1845 and died 1902 in Centerville; this Alexander Mitchell brought the Mitchell family to Lucas County, Iowa, then to Centerville.
