MYSTIC VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR TAKEN BY DEATH
John Fuller, Pioneer of That Vicinity, Died Wednesday Evening At His Home
Mystic, Ia, Aug. 9 (Special) to Iowegian) - John Worthington Fuller, son of Shuble and Rhoda Ann Fuller died at his home Wednesday night Aug. 8. Mr Fuller was born near Columbus, Ohio. He came to Iowa when two years of age and has resided in Appanoose county 85 years. He enlisted in the Union army, Company H, 8th Iowa Cavalry, August 28, 1863, and mustered out August 12, 1865 at Macon, Ga.
In December 1847 he was married to Eliza Wright and to this union 11 children were born, James, Mrs. James McGrann, Jack, Mrs. Gwylm Lodwick, Mrs. Ida Thorne, Mrs. Emma Hicks, and Shuble living: Mrs. John Luse, Mrs. Mary Greenwell, Frank and Charlie all whom are deceased.
This wife died in 1881, and in July 1882 he united in marriage with Gertrude Wilhelm. To this union were born eight children, Robert, Mrs. George Young, Harry, Howard, and Ted living, and Joe William and Fred deceased. They also raised one grandson "Pat" Fuller son of Charles. There are also forty-eight grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
The deceased has long been a member of the M.E. church and helped to organize and build the first M.E. church in Mystic.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 on Friday Aug. 10, at the home and will be conducted by Rev. Bruvold.
The family requests that no flowers be sent.
