Mrs. Russell is Called by Death, Mourned by Many

Local Resident Taken Suddenly, Following Short Illness and Strokes Early Today

Mrs. Bert B. Russell, 63, for the past 28 years a well known resident of this city, died early today at the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital at 8:53 following [an] illness of three weeks which became critical yesterday morning at 9:30. Mrs. Russell suffered a stoke and although everything possible was done in her behalf she failed to rally.

The death came suddenly and is a shock and deep sorrow to a wide circle of friends and relatives.

Elizabeth Evans was born at Lineville, Iowa, and spent her childhood and girlhood there. On July 22, 1902, she was united in marriage to Bert B. Russell, and 28 years ago the couple came to this city to make their home here.

Four children were born to this union and one Grace Maxine, precedes her mother in death. There are three surviving children as follows: Evan B. Russell of Des Moines, Juanita of Chariton, and Mrs. Virginia Lucille Mitchell of this city. One grandson survives and is Jerry John Mitchell. In addition to the husband and children, one sister and one brother survive at Lineville and are Miss Ida Evans and Charles Evans.

Mrs. Russell attended the Methodist church and had a great many acquaintances and friends here, in Wayne County, and in the Lineville community.

Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be in held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Methodist church [in Centerville]. Burial will be in Lineville.
