Mitchell Is Taken by Death

Alexander (Sandy) Mitchell, age 80. who lived at Eighteenth and Haynes avenue in this city, died Wednesday evening at St. Joseph's hospital after a lingering illness. Mr. Mitchell was born October 19, 1872 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Alexander and Margaret [MacPhee] Mitchell. He came to this country when he was nine years old and has lived in Appanoose county most of the time since then. His wife. Belle [Lockhart], preceded him in death, in February 1913 [Wrong year]. He is also preceded in death by his parents, two-brothers, and one sister. He is survived by one son. John [L.], of Centerville; four brothers, James, John and William of Centerville, and Charles of California: also by a sister, Elizabeth, of this city; and by two grandchildren Jerry John Mitchell and Dennis Dale Mitchell. Funeral services will be held from the Johnson funeral home, at 2 o’clock Saturday with: the Rev. Tom Folk: officiating and burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
