Obituary for John L. Mitchell from the DES MOINES REGISTER for August 23, 2010:

John L. Mitchell, 85, of the 2600 block of Vine Street, West Des Moines, died of a heart ailment Monday at Mercy Medical Center. The body was cremated, and private family services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Centerville and had lived there many years before moving to Las Vegas 23 years ago. He moved to West Des Moines three years ago. He was a welder, a farmer and a manager with Super Sweet Feeds before retiring. He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge in Centerville and enjoyed tennis and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons, J. John of West Des Moines and Dennis of Lorena, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Brooks Funeral Care is handling arrangements.
