—Died, at her home near Unionville late yesterday morning, Mrs. James T. Ashmead, from consumption. The funeral was held this afternoon from the residence, the remains being interred in the Dunkard's cemetery near Unionville.

Mrs. J. T. Ashmead died at her home at 9 o'clock Monday morning. The in terment will take place at the Dunkard burying ground, south of town, at 10 o'clock tomorrow.

MARTHA JANE ASHMEAD.
Martha Jane Gray was born near Hainburg, Pueblo Co., Ohio, Dec 31, 1845. She was married to James Ashmead, Dec. 4, 1866, and died after a long and painful illness near Unionville, Iowa, July 26, 1897, at the age of 51 years, 6 months and 25 days.
The funeral services were attended by a large congregation of friends and was held in Fairview church, the 27 inst, by the pastor, Rev. A . C Boyd, assisted by Rev. Mason and Rev. Baker. Her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by. She leaves a husband, 5 children, 5 brothers and sisters and many friends to mourn her departure.
Mrs. Ashmead joined the Brethern (Dunker) church, May 2, 1880, and in 1889 the M. E. church. Her life was that of a good christian woman, wife and mother. Though her sufferings were great, she was patient and trustful. She died in great peace, happy in her Saviour. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of their many friends.
