FUNERAL RITES
FOR JOHN HIBBS
HELD IN SEYMOUR

Seymour — Funeral rites for John Hibbs were held Sunday, May 12th from the Liggett funeral home in Seymour. Rev. Clifford Carter conducted the services. John Hibbs was born in Appanoose county, Feb. 15, 1865, near Livingston. He was the son of Pleasant and Mary Huffaker Hibbs who with their parents were among the very early settelrs of Iowa and Appanoose county. County history states that James Hibbs a brother of Pleasant Hibbs was the owner of a farm where was located the inland town of Hibbsville where he was town postmaster and owned a general merchandise store as early as 1851.
John Hibbs was married to Charlotte Wilson, May 14, 1910 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, one son Blaine Hibbs of Moline, ILL., two brothers, M. E. Hibbs, Unionville, Mo., and Elkana Hibbs of Vaneta, Oklahoma. Among the many relatives and friends from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Plowman, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Plowman, Mrs. Elma Hibbs, Mrs. Ethel Dixon, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Hibbs of Pattonsburg, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McMillan, Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Elkana Hibbs Ivon, Oklahoma, Mrs. Sam Silverman, Evanston. Ind.,
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Hibbs, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. S. E. Rice, Miss Zella Kice, Mr. I. E. Rice and Mrs. Dean Wagner of Centerville, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hibbs, sons Clair and Keith of Lucern, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Phillips and M. Phillips of Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Probasco, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Stollard of Watseka. ILL., Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Langel and children of Moline. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Langel and children of Ottumwa, Mr. Max Stineman, and Mr. and Mrs. Millard Wolfinger of Davenport. Ruth Putman of Des Moines, Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Hardwick. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hardwick and family of Paris, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. John Willier, Mr. and Mrs. L . A. Dixon, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McKay and Lora McKay and Max, of Unionville, Mo. Burial was made in the cemetery at Livingston where many of the older generation are at rest.
