OBITUARY
Mrs. Mary Carr was born in Cambridge Co., England, Jan. l3, 1795, and died at the residence of her son, Joseph Carr, near Centerville, Ia., Sept. 4th, 1881. In 1819
she married John Carr who died in l858.
She was the mother of 5 children 2 of whom are still living; was the grandmother of 29; the great-grandmother of 39, and the great-great-grandmother of 3. Thus she lived to see some of the fifth generation.
For over 10 years previous to her death she was tolerably blind, and so crippled for 8 years that she could not walk without supporting herself with a chair. Truly the days of our years are three score and ten; and if by reason of strength they be four score years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow.
She came to Iowa in 1851, and united with the Church of Christ in l853, from which time until her death, we are told, she has lived a faithful and devoted life.
A large number of acquaintances and friends attended her funeral, who were addressed
by the writer from Rev. XIV: 13 "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.”
H. U. DALE.
