Mrs. Gilmore Doggett, 89, Centerville resident, passed away at the Ottumwa Chatfield Nursing home Tuesday, Feb. 5, 1952, where she had been a patient since April 26, 1951. Mrs. Doggett had been a bed patient five years and five months, for four years of this time she was with her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Mowery, Batavia.
The deceased was born Mary E. Brown, Oct. 15, 1862, to Isaac M. Brown and Elizabeth Jackson Brown, in the Iconium and Moravia vicinity. She married Gilmore Doggett April 1886, and lived north and west to Centerville until 1910 when they moved to Centerville and resided here until six years ago when illness forced her to give up her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Mowery, Batavia; one grandson, Max E. Mowery, East Moline, ILL.; and twin greatgrandsons; one step-daughter, Mrs. Ella Hoover, Moline, ILL.; and one step-son, Oliver Doggett, Corydon.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gilmore, Feb. 9, 1941; and one son, Roy, Aug. 1, 1934.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. from the Christian church with Rev. C. E. Francisco officiating and burial in Haynes cemetery. The body is at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral home.
