CALLED BY DEATH;
COUNTY PIONEER
Aged Resident Taken After Three
Tears of Ill Health, Was Widely
Known Church Worker

Gilmore Doggett, pioneer resident of Appanoose county, was taken by death here Sunday at 7 a.m. following failing health over a period of three years, which had become critical within the past month. Had he lived until March 28 he would have been 86 years of age.
Mr. Doggett was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Doggett in Wapello county near Blakesburg and lived there with his pioneer father and mother until he was nine years of age, when the family moved to Appanoose county end settled
on what is now known as the Sam Long place near Walnut City. On this farm Mr. Doggett grew to young manhood and united in marriage with Dorathula Ullum, whose death occurred in 1884 and whose left two children, who are Oliver Doggett of Corydon, and Mrs. Ella Hoover of Moline, Illinois.

Wed in 1886.
On April 1 in 1886, Mr. Doggett united in mariage with Mary E. Brown, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Brown, of near Iconium. The newlyweds moved to a farm near the sight of the former community of Dennis, north of Centerville, along the Chariton river. From the community north of Centerville, Mr. and Mrs. Doggett later moved to the Lants farm southwest of Centerville where where they remained until they retired and came to Centerville 30 years ago.
Two children were born to their marriage. One, Roy Doggett, died August 1, 1934, the surviving child is Mrs. Cecil Mowery, of Batavia, Iowa. In death Mr. Doggett leaves no brothers or sisters as he was the last surviving member of a family of 13.

Church Man.
Mr. Doggett was a successful farmer and a man of splendid character. He had been a member of the Christian church for a great many years and had been at different times an elder and deacon and served the church in other capacities.
He was constant in attendance and always did all within his power in behalf of the church. He had a great many relatives and friends and his death will be mourned by many.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday at the Central Church of Christ with Dr. H. E. Trimble officiating and burial will be in the Haines cemetery, north of Centerville.
