Harold R. Bauman, 73, of Creston, formerly of Centerville, died Tuesday, May 18, 1993, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.
He was born June 14, 1919, at Centerville, the son of James R. and Grace (Fry) Bauman.
He married Nancy J. Howard on Aug. 2, 1974, in Creston. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Sam Howard; and an infant son, James.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Joan McKee and her husband, Kenneth, of Fairfield, Mary Biggs and her husband, John, and Norma Myers, all of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Hovelson and her husband, Eric, of Clive; three sons, Kenneth Bauman and his wife, Marilyn, of Redlands, Calif., Mike Thomas and his wife, Sharon, of Des Moines, and Norman Thomas of Casey; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; twin sisters, Ruth Gillespie and her husband, Robert, of Villisca, and Rae
Bergstrom of Red Oak; a brother, Alfred Bauman and his wife, Carolyn, of Centerville; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Centerville High School in 1937 and attended Indian Hills Community College for two years. He farmed in the Centerville area until he moved to Creston in 1963. He was chief electrician for Central Iowa Power Cooperative until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Creston, the American Legion Post 70, and the Creston Community Theater. He served many years on Creston's Airport Commision. He served during World War II in the Army Signal Corps.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21, 1993, at 10 a.m. at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Lynn Williams of the Presbyterian Church officiating. A visitation will be after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 21, 1993, at 2:30 p.m. at the Exline Cemetery in Exline. A memorial will be established in his name.
