George Raskie
George Raskie, 95, died Tuesday, May 24, 1994, at the Golden Age Care Center. He was born April 15, 1899, in Rathbun, the son of Mike and Cecelia (Buban) Raskie. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Petra Kauzlarich, Antionia Kauzlarich, Anne Cinkovich, Eva Grenko and Katie Mihalovich; and a brother, Steve Raskie.
He served in World War I. He retired from coal mining after working 26 years in the mines. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the United Mine Workers.
Funeral services were held May 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Miller, C.P.P.S., officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. A prayer service, was held May 26 at the Lange Funeral Home.
